BrachyDOSE in more detail

BrachyDOSE is a patient-centric, data-driven measurement tool designed to help clinicians reduce the risk of treatment-related injuries during radiotherapy procedures. The solution combines hardware and software, including a radiation dose measurement sensor, a scanner for data retrieval, and an injury prediction algorithm that provides decision support to clinicians.

The sensor is shaped like a flexible tube, is disposable, and at least one sensor must be used during each procedure. Depending on the physician’s prescription and the specific treatment plan, one to five sensors may be used in a single procedure.

If the delivered radiation dose differs from the prescribed dose, the machine learning–driven decision support algorithm provides immediate alerts.

It can also indicate the potential risk of treatment-related tissue injury and support evaluation of expected treatment outcomes. This information helps clinicians make safer decisions, improve workflow efficiency, reduce hospital costs, and save valuable time.

Before treatment begins, the sensor is placed in one or more standard implantable tubes near the tumour or at a targeted location within an organ.

During the procedure, the sensor measures the actual radiation dose in real time. Once treatment is complete, the sensor is removed and the recorded data is retrieved using the scanner.
