BrachyDOSE solution

BrachyDOSE is an in-vivo dosimetry solution for high dose rate brachytherapy that provides accurate measured dose for better treatment efficiency

Before treatment begins, the sensor is placed in one or more standard implantable tubes near the tumour or at a targeted location within an organ.

During the procedure, the sensor measures the actual radiation dose in real time. Once treatment is complete, the sensor is removed and the recorded data is retrieved using the scanner.

If the delivered radiation dose differs from the prescribed dose, the machine learning–driven decision support algorithm provides immediate alerts.

It can also indicate the potential risk of treatment-related tissue injury and support evaluation of expected treatment outcomes. This information helps clinicians make safer decisions, improve workflow efficiency, reduce hospital costs, and save valuable time.

The solution combines hardware and software, including a radiation dose measurement sensor, a scanner for data retrieval, and an injury prediction algorithm that provides decision support to clinicians.

The sensor is shaped like a flexible tube, is disposable, and at least one sensor must be used during each procedure. Depending on the physician’s prescription and the specific treatment plan, one to five sensors may be used in a single procedure.

For Clinicians

  • supports safer, more equitable radiotherapy;

  • potential to reduce avoidable complications and hospital stays by 3-5 days;

  • European-developed solution aligned with MDR, GDPR, and cancer policy priorities.

For Healthcare Systems

  • patient-specific dose verification in healthy organs;

  • tissue-equivalent disposable sensor;

  • 0.1 mm measurement accuracy;

  • supports decisions that may reduce radiation-induced injuries and shorten recovery time.

Main Features

For Hospitals

  • disposable sensor with no calibration or re-sterilization;

  • compatibility with standard radiotherapy workflows;

  • reduced maintenance and storage burden;

  • potential 25-65% reduction in injury-related treatment costs;

  • up to 50% clinician time savings.
